God’s Little Miracles!

The reason I’m telling you these little things is because it’s so wonderful to me! You can expect that of course God is going to do the big things that have to be done, but the little tiny thoughtfulnesses of the Lord—a market that’s open, to find a bathroom scale, to find that your bags weigh just the right weight—it is so wonderful how the Lord thinks of every little thing!

There’s nothing too small for the Lord or too hard for Him! Why do you worry, why do you fret? God’s going to take care of every little detail! Each time I thought, “Well, maybe this is it, maybe we just can’t make it because surely this is going to be the door that’s going to be closed, this is going to be the impossible situation. Well yes, Lord, You brought us this far but now here’s where we can’t make it any further, it’s impossible.” But everything I asked God to do, the Lord did every little thing! Praise the Lord!

Cuz I’d Really Like To Meet Her

Counting Blue Cars by the band Dishwalla was a hit song in 1996. The song is recognizable by the line “Tell me all your thoughts on God, cuz I’d really like to meet her”.

From the Biblical accounts of God we generally see a male entity portrayed, though God has many “roles” his gender seems to be somewhat set. Or is it?

The Shack took the supposition to the nth degree by portraying Yahweh as a female “Papa”. Without second thought it thumbs it’s nose at traditional views of the trinity being “Father, Son and Holy Ghost” or “Male, Male & Female” to more of a defined Son and Holy Ghost and much more fluid Godhead.

So why does this ruffle our feathers? Because it contradicts the Bible? Or is it because the Hebrew and Greek languages were to simple to convey this complex relationship? John 16:12 says:

I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now.

If God is more complex than the Bible defines, is it heresy to say that He is unable to reveal these deeper truths now? Are we limited to the definitions in the Bible? Think about John 16:12. I’ll talk about it more next week.

Living in the Lord’s Love

Love is like a stream. Some days it flows and rushes, for there is plenty. On other days it trickles and you can see it bouncing against the unseen rocks. But even when love is dry and has lost its flow and lies nearly empty on the muddy bottom, there is more love to come.

We remember how Jesus loved, how He forgave, and how He reached out to show He cared. By using Jesus as the Source of love, we can fill up the stream again. Life has the extra dimension found in Jesus Christ. He is the Authority on love. Jesus loves when love is hard. He loves when love is rejected. He loves when love makes little sense. Jesus loves when others would quit. Jesus loves when others are ugly. Jesus loves when others are cold. Jesus loves when others are unworthy.

And when we feel that love has dried up, we reach out to Him, and learn to love again.

America becoming less Christian

America is a less Christian nation than it was 20 years ago, and Christianity is not losing out to other religions, but primarily to a rejection of religion altogether, a survey published Monday found.
